Spannerman Autocare is your Mackay based, independent mechanic providing a range of autocare services to the highest quality whilst upholding a strong focus on good old-fashioned customer service.

Peter is a highly regarded and qualified mechanic. Aside from attaining his formal trade qualifications, he was schooled in mechanics by his much loved father, an Italian immigrant, who settled in Australia in the late 1950s establishing workshops in Gordonvale, North Queensland and in his later life, Dysart, Central Queensland.

As a young boy and all throughout his adult years, Peter worked alongside his diesel fitter father and it was during this time that Peter was blooded in superior mechanical excellence.

Peter continued to draw on his rich Italian automotive heritage as he broadened his experience in qualifying as a diesel fitter in 1997 and working across the Queensland and Papua New Guinean mining industries as well as the Queensland agricultural and marine industries.

Though he travelled far, Peter always made his way back home to assist his father in the workshop, a much loved pastime enjoyed by both men until the passing of his father in 2012.

Superior mechanical ability and going the extra mile for people weren’t the only attributes passed from father to son – the unmistakable dry humour with just a hint of cheek synonymous with Italian elders is alive and well in PJ!

Anthony joined Spannerman Autocare in December 2018 after completing work experience and in late October 2022 became a fully qualified tradesman.

 

His passion for mechanics was born from tinkering with an old Falcon with his father.

When not at the Spannerman Autocare workshop, Anthony loves to work on his own Hilux for his much-loved camping trips.

Luke has always had an interest in cars and after many years of getting life experiences in other fields, he decided to combine his passion with his working life and embarked on an adult apprenticeship with Spannerman Autocare in July 2021.

Luke brings energy and a great attitude with everything he does and has been a great addition to our team.

Lewis came to us to do work experience in September 2021 and joined us as a School-Based Apprentice in January 2022.

Lewis grew up on his family cattle property in Dysart around farm machinery and still returns to work on the family farm every chance he gets when not at work.

Currently Lewis is building his own project vehicle and loving the experience he is getting working alongside Peter & the team.

Jayde joined our team in November of 2021 and is our friendly receptionist. She has recently completed her Business Traineship and has embraced learning the operation of a mechanical workshop.

Jayde takes on any challenge thrown at her and her attitude is “Where there is a will, there is a way”.
